Peeling

Peeling

Peeling is a painting defect occurring during the ageing of the film of a paint or coating, characterized by total loss of adhesion of a film or of a set of paint films to the respective support base, causing them to separate into strips of various sizes.

CAUSES: Poor preparation of the surface to be painted. Surface contaminated with grease, loose particles, dust, etc. Painting done over a hot surface or on a surface with humidity. Application of inappropriate products on the exterior, with low resistance to ultraviolet rays.

TREATMENT: The situation should be analysed very carefully. You should check which of the situations occurred and act to eliminate or correct them. To ensure that a paint or coating has a high durability and resistance to ultraviolet rays, you should use 100% Acrylic based products and pigments of high light fastness.
